12. Wagging Tales Festival @ Trussville Public Library

- What: A new festival is coming to Trussville and is all about supporting our local animals and shelters/rescues. There will be local animal shelters on site with adoptable cats and dogs you can meet and play with, free library programs throughout the day, a market with local vendors and food trucks, an author event with Birmingham poet Charles Ghigna + plenty more. Don’t want to adopt an animal while you’re there? No worries. This is a great opportunity to donate pet supplies, food or toys and learn all about animal care and local resources.

15. 12th Annual Darter Fest @ Avondale Brewing Company

- What: Darter Fest returns in May with another inspiring fundraiser. The festival supports the Alabama Environmental Council’s watershed education programs for Birmingham City Schools and the Watercress Darter, a tiny fish unique to Birmingham that needs our help! During the event, Avondale Brewing Company will release their seasonal Darter IPA and there will also be food trucks, live music from Little Raine Band + more, kids’ activities and fun for the whole family.
