Looking for the perfect way to spend a day in Birmingham? Head over to Crestline Village, a charming and walkable community in Mountain Brook full of local gems, hidden treasures and friendly vibes.

We spent the day exploring this iconic spot and found everything from great coffee and boutique shopping to delicious bites and even a fresh new haircut.

Tell us where you want us to spend the day next or if we missed your top Crestline spot!

Stop 1: coffee

No adventure begins without caffeine, and Church Street Coffee & Books is the perfect kickoff point. We grabbed an iced coffee (pro tip: their specialty drinks are a must-try) and browsed the shelves filled with curated reads. This spot blends coffee shop charm with a cozy bookstore feel, making it the kind of place you’ll want to linger.

If you’re looking to pair your coffee with something tasty, just stroll over to Crestline Bagel across the street for a fresh bagel or a sweet treat. Their menu has plenty of grab-and-go options to fuel your walk around the village.

Shopping is my favorite hobby, and Crestline Village is a boutique-lover’s dream. We explored a handful of locally-owned shops featuring everything from whimsical home decor to stylish spring wardrobe staples.

Whether you’re hunting for a unique piece of jewelry, a gift for a friend or just browsing for fun, there’s a little something for every shopper at these local gems.

Stop 3: hair salon

It was time to give my hair a makeover. I popped into Oak Street Hair Group, and they did a fabulous job. The friendly staff and a cute atmosphere made my hair experience an unforgettable one.

Stop 4: bite and a break

Shopping and styling work up an appetite, and Crestline has no shortage of great spots. We narrowed it down to two local favorites:

  • La Paz – For those craving something zesty and fresh, their tacos and margaritas are a must.
  • Slim’s Pizza – If you’re in the mood for cheesy, crispy perfection, Slim’s has your back.

Whether you go the taco route or opt for a pizza party, you can’t go wrong. We recommend grabbing a patio seat and soaking up the village charm while you dine.

Stop 5: a little stroll

After eating, we took a leisurely walk through Crestline Village to enjoy the scenery. These cute stop-and-stare spots make this day perfect for an afternoon walk. Highlights included:

  • The O’Neal Library, a peaceful, beautifully designed spot that’s perfect for a midday break.
  • Oak Street Garden Shop, a local favorite filled with blooming flowers and garden accessories.
  • The iconic Crestline Clock Tower, a beloved community landmark.

Fun fact: The Crestline Clock Tower has stood as a symbol of the village’s historic charm for decades. It’s often used as a meeting spot for locals and has become an Instagram-worthy backdrop for visitors.

Stop 6: drinks

To wrap things up, we headed to Otey’s Tavern, a laid-back local bar with great vibes and even better drinks. Known for its friendly atmosphere and packed calendar of events, Otey’s hosts everything from trivia nights to live music.

No matter what you order, you’re guaranteed yummy food, good times and cold drinks.

Wow, what a fun day! Let us know if you followed along and where you wanna see us explore next @Bhamnow!
