Popular Cajun food truck Gumbo To Geaux has opened a first brick-and-mortar location near UAB. The store is located on 20th Street S, on the same strip as Cafe Crispy, Magic Wok and Salvatore’s Pizza and Pasta.

10+ years in the making

Over the last 13 years, Gumbo to Geaux has created a strong following in the Birmingham community. The restaurant is owned by Etricia Robinson, who learned to cook Cajun and Creole cuisine from her grandmother Sadie.

“New menu items! Great location! New employees to greet you! We’re so excited for you to come in and see us! I’ll post the menu today and give you a chance to check it out! The wait was excruciating, but it’s time! See ya soon!”

In addition to authentic seafood or chicken gumbo, Gumbo to Geaux serves dishes like:

  • Shrimp and grits
  • Red beans and rice
  • Crawfish Γ©touffΓ©e
  • Handhelds like po boys, muffaletta + more
  • Fried okra
  • Fried green tomatoes

If the name sounds familiar, you’ve probably spotted their food truck at events like the Gumbo Gala at Cahaba Brewing or the City of Irondale CountryFest.

Plus, the truck is regularly stationed at local spots like Harbert Realty, Barber Motorsports Park or Oversoul Brewing.
