Five Points South 41st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been canceled

As of Friday morning, the U.S. National Weather Service Birmingham Office is forecasting a Severe Weather Outbreak beginning at 2:00PM on Saturday in Birmingham.

Even though the St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been traditionally held rain or shine, the potential safety risks have been deemed too great to move forward with the parade.

“It has been and will be a great tradition. 41 years! But as Saint Patrick would have believed, we must first be our brothers keepers and put community first.”

Marty Connors, Chairman, Birmingham Irish Cultural Society

The risk level is at 4, which was last forecasted at that stage in the state during the tornado outbreak of 2011.
