It’s a big weekend in Birmingham with Saint Patrick’s Day events, including the 41st annual parade in Five Points South, the Holi Festival at the Birmingham Museum of Art and a sweet adoption event with the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. 2. Determined to Be: The Sculpture of John Rhoden @ Birmingham Museum of Art

  • What: Explore famous artist + Bham native John Rhoden’s exhibit featuring his collection of 50 sculptures open now at the Birmingham Museum of Art. Rhoden has been internationally recognized for his work in wood, bronze + stone sculpture. You may recognize his sculpture of the Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth, which stands outside the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute.

3. From Steel to Stage: The History of Theatre in Birmingham @ Vulcan Park & Museum

7. SNCC Workshop: Exploring the Role of Women & Gender in the Civil Rights Movement @ Birmingham Civil Rights Institute

This interactive workshop offers a unique chance to explore historical documents and audiovisual materials, learn about the role of women and gender in the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), and connect those lessons to today. 9. Holi Festival @ Birmingham Museum of Art

  • What: The Birmingham Museum of Art is partnering with City Walk BHAM to celebrate the 14th annual Holi Festival this Saturday, March 15. This traditional Indian festival marks the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. Expect a day filled with live music, dance performances, art activities + the iconic throwing of colored powders. A selection of food trucks will be on site.

10. 41st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade @ 5 Points South

  • What: Get into the Irish spirit: The annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade is back in Birmingham’s Five Points South for its 41st year this March. The fun kicks off at 1:30PM on 10th Ave South and will be led by the Ian Sturrock Memorial Pipe Band and other local groups. There will be festivities throughout the day, too, like Irish-themed food and drinks, live music + kids’ activities.
