2 Birmingham coffee shops named among world’s best

Two local coffee shops have been declared among the world’s best by an organization that promotes the finest coffee shops on Planet Earth.

Called The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops, the group’s website listed Domestique in Avondale and Homewood and Seeds Coffee Company in West Homewood in their latest ranking.

Two other Alabama coffee shops — Prevail Union from Montgomery and Turbo Coffee, which has locations in Huntsville, Tuscaloosa and Florence also made the global list.

How The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops were judged

According to Montgomery Advertiser which first reported the story about The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops list, the group held a public vote and enlisted a panel of specialty coffee experts to decide the 100 best coffee shops.

Their criteria included:

  • Quality of coffee
  • Barista experience
  • Customer service
  • innovation 
  • Ambiance 
  • Sustainability
  • Food and pastry quality
  • Consistency
