Looking for some comfort food on the Bessemer Super Highway near Western Hills Mall? Check out Ocean Seafood & Fried Chicken.

Earlier this month, we stopped by this exciting new restaurant which took the place of the old Hardee’s in April 2024.

If you are a fan of fresh made-to-order fried seafood + chicken, classic desserts and fresh squeezed lemonade — this is your new go to place.

Ocean Seafood & Fried Chicken’s Jan Chua gave us a culinary tour of the place which seats about 60 people and specializes in large orders for parties.

Some of the items she let us sample included:

  • Jumbo Shrimp (HUGE basket)
  • Whole catfish and fries
  • Desserts – including banana pudding, red velvet cake and more
  • Colorful and freshly squeezed lemonade

Also on the menu, there are several varieties of fish — perch, trout, whiting, catfish, tilapia, flounder, red snapper. They also offer shrimp, oyster and scallops.

About their seafood:

“We are a seafood restaurant with a southern touch. Everything is fresh and we cook it by order. We don’t put anything under a light at all.”

Jan Chua

Don’t forget the wings & dessert

Besides the seafood, we highly recommend the special “whole wings” and side orders that include cole slaw, hush puppies, fried okra, Mac & Cheese bites, cheese sticks and their classic chicken sandwich.

And don’t forget the desserts — especially the banana pudding and red velvet cake.
