1. Edgar’s Bakery
With 13 locations in the Greater Birmingham Area, Edgar’s Bakery is a go-to for cakes, cupcakes and other sweets—but did you know they make a killer king cake too?
2. Savage’s Bakery
Savage’s Bakery & Deli has been a Birmingham landmark for over 85 years. Since 1939, Savage’s has been slinging pastries, rolls, breads and my favorite—smiley face cookies. Their king cake is a traditional New Orleans-style cake glazed and sprinkled with purple, green and gold.

3. Birmingham Breadworks
This Mardi Gras season, Birmingham Breadworks is pulling out all the stops.
Their king cake is a unique spiced brioche filled with cinnamon cream cheese and topped with vanilla glaze. Every order comes with a plastic baby for you to hide yourself, plus a strand of beads and even a pack of freshly roasted Creole Coffee for the full New Orleans experience.
Can’t finish a king cake? They’re also offering king cake cinnamon rolls—get one before they’re gone.

4. Good Neighbor Baking
Good Neighbor is a boutique bakery in Hoover owned by local baker Ramsey Nuss. While they’re most famous for their mini cookie sandwiches, don’t let Mardi Gras season pass you by without trying their king cake.

5. Continental Bakery
Continental Bakery in English Village is far and wide one of the most beloved bakeries in Birmingham—and for good reason! Their pastries are made of fresh, local ingredients with quality that can’t be beat, and the king cake is no exception.
Stop by for a cake, and grab a good cup of coffee while you’re at it.

Rolls Bakery in Vestavia specializes in cinnamon rolls of all flavors and shapes, and they’re kicking off the Mardi Gras season with a king cake cinnamon roll. Make sure to place your preorder before it’s too late!

7. Homewood Gourmet
Homewood Gourmet is known for healthy, seasonal foods from sandwiches to salads and more. This Mardi Gras season, they’ve got king cakes to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings.
Their king cakes come in two flavors—classic cinnamon and cream cheese delight.

8. Heavenly Donut Co.
We’ve covered king cake cinnamon rolls, but what about king cake doughnuts? These sweet treats are topped with signature Mardi Gras colored sprinkles and of course—a baby!
