Onelife Fitness to invest $10 million into new McCalla location

Last month, Bham Now reported that Virginia-based Onelife Fitness planned to expand its gyms to the Birmingham area.
At the time, we knew the fitness center was taking over a JC Penney in the area but it had not disclosed which. Last week, Onelife confirmed that it will be opening in the vacant JC Penney at Tannehill Promenade in McCalla.
Coming soon to Tannehill Promenade in McCalla
According to a recent press release, the 58,000 square-foot facility will offer a myriad of amenities, such as:
- Boutique studios for workout classes
- Cardio + strength equipment
- Recovery studio with HydroMassage, Red Light Therapy + Normatec Compression Equipment
- Indoor saltwater pools, sauna + cold plunge
- Olympic lifting platforms, free weights + large athletic turf training spaces
It also offers onsite childcare—the Kids Club will feature games, basketball and even a small movie theater.
Expected to open by end of 2025
The company has had its eye on the Birmingham market for a while, according to CEO Ori Gorfine.
The new gym is scheduled to open in December, so stay tuned for updates.
