Hoover High School jazz band selected for national competition at the Lincoln Center

The Hoover High School jazz band has earned an invitation to compete as a finalist in one of the nation’s most prestigious jazz band competitions.
As one of 30 finalists from around the country, Hoover High School’s jazz band will compete in the Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition and Festival at the Lincoln Center in New York. The competition will be held from May 7 through 11 and feature:
- Workshops
- Jam sessions
- Performances culminating in the final concert at the Metropolitan Opera House
This year’s event is particularly noteworthy. For the first time, Jazz at Lincoln Center has expanded the Essentially Ellington program internationally and doubled the number of finalists in celebration of its 30th anniversary.
