It is a sad day for Birmingham. Beloved late-night spot Marty’s PM will soon close its doors after 31 years in Five Points South.
Marty’s PM will be open through the end of the year, including its New Year’s Eve party on December 31.
Five Points South staple closing
Located at 1813 10th Ct S near the Birmingham Public Library Southside Branch, Marty’s PM has been a staple of Five Points South for over three decades. The bar, grill and music club was founded in 1993 by Marty Eagle, who ran the establishment until his death in 2013.
After the death of Marty, the bar was sold to Phillip and Marsha Mims, who renovated the original Marty’s and opened two new locations:
- Marty’s GM & Eagle’s Nest at Grants Mill Station in Irondale
- MTV – Marty’s Trussville
Sadly, the flagship Marty’s PM has had several rough years following the COVID-19 Pandemic, including a shooting on Christmas Eve in 2021 that took the life of employee Shaun Rhudy.
The impending closure of Marty’s PM was confirmed by Wil Jones, President of the Five Points South Neighborhood Association.
Marty’s PM is the latest establishment in Five Points South to move or close its doors, preceded by:
