For just over half a century, the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) has brought incredible concerts, musicals, conventions, sporting events and more to The Magic City—and 2024 has been a year for the history books!

2024: A year to remember!

Best. Year. Ever.

2024 has been an outstanding year for the BJCC. Since January 1, Birmingham’s premier entertainment district has hosted 466 events and welcomed an impressive 1,420,730 fans & guests—and the year isn’t over yet!

On March 22nd and 23rd, Zach Bryan broke all attendance and merchandise selling records with back-to-back performances on his “The Quittin’ Time Tour.” In addition to Zach Bryan, the next top 5 best-attended events of 2024 brought 118,497 guests to the BJCC:

  1. Christmas Village Festival
  2. Monster Jam
  3. Nate Bargatze: The Be Funny Tour
  4. Monster Energy AMA Supercross
  5. Disney’s Aladdin presented by Broadway in Birmingham

In addition, 2024 saw the BJCC host three of the year’s top worldwide tours (as recognized by leading industry publication Pollstar):

The BJCC broke all attendance records in March

In March, the BJCC shattered all past attendance records by drawing more than 212,000 people to a total of 61 events held across the entire complex. March highlights at the BJCC include:

  • Zach Bryan’s back-to-back concerts at Legacy Arena (March 22-23) were the highest-grossing engagements in the BJCC’s 50-year history, bringing in $5.7M and setting the new merchandise sales record at $1.1M.
  • Monster Jam (March 23) and Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship (March 9) are the 3rd and 4th largest events ever held at Protective Stadium.

BJCC Concert Hall & Theatre 50th Anniversary

On October 12, the BJCC celebrated 50 years of the BJCC Concert Hall & Theatre with a vibrant, community-focused event for residents of Birmingham and surrounding areas.

Free and open to the public, the Concert Hall & Theatre 50th Anniversary commemorated half a century of entertainment with family-friendly activities like:

  • Backstage tours
  • Ticket giveaways
  • Caricature artists + face painting
  • A scavenger hunt bingo
  • Local food trucks

Following the public celebration, the BJCC hosted a private evening of appreciation for local partners, media and key stakeholders.

With hors d’oeuvres, desserts from local K&J’s Elegant Pastries and performances by the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and Alabama Ballet, this event highlighted the long-standing impact and rich cultural contributions of the BJCC Concert Hall & Theatre to the local entertainment scene.

2025 will be an even bigger year for the BJCC in Birmingham

If you think 2024 was impressive, you’ll love what the BJCC has planned for 2025.

For starters, the BJCC’s new downtown Birmingham outdoor concert venue—officially named The Coca-Cola Amphitheater—is set to open Summer of 2025 and will soon serve as one of the city’s premier live entertainment venues.

Over 20 shows are already booked for the 2025 concert season, including:

  • Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit — June 28, 2025
  • Toto + Christopher Cross + Men at Work — July 21, 2025
