Greater Birmingham Humane Society (GBHS) and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help in identifying a severely injured 10-month-old Doddle puppy.
The abused dog was dumped early in the morning on December 10th at the Greater Birmingham Humane Society Animal Care and Control facility in Woodlawn.
Greater Birmingham Humane Society horrified by Gabby’s injuries
Named Gabby by GBHS staff, the puppy’s fur was painted green and severely matted when she arrived at the facility. She was also malnourished.
According to GBHS, their staff rushed Gabby to the group’s Critical Care and Spay/Neuter Clinic. After removing the excessive matting, the medical team was horrified by the severity of her injuries.
Someone had muzzled her snout so tightly that it cut deeply into the flesh around her mouth. Her baby teeth were rotten and she suffered from a severe wound on her back.
Urine burns on her paws and atrophy to her legs all point to severely restricted confinement.
GBHS believes Gabby has experienced repeated abuse and torture.
“Someone dropped Gabby either over the Woodlawn facility’s locked gate or pushed her under the gate, so I know someone out there cared enough about what was happening to her to try to get her help. We want to make sure anyone that lived with Gabby is safe so we need someone to come forward and tell us the entire story.
