A little over an hour away from Birmingham in Fayette, Alabama is Restoration Springs—a transitional living facility created by the Will Bright Foundation. Here, men battling addiction are provided a safe and supportive environment for recovery.
Read on to learn more the story behind the Will Bright Foundation and how you can give back this Giving Tuesday.
The Will Bright story
In 2014, Lisa and Bill Bright founded the Will Bright Foundation in loving memory of their son, Will Bright, who struggled with addiction throughout his life and passed away from a heroin overdose at 25 years old.
Lisa and Bill took their loss as an opportunity to help others overcome addiction and give them the tools necessary to maintain a drug-free lifestyle.
With the construction of Restoration Springs in Fayette, the Brights sought to create a haven where men in recovery can transition from rehab back into the world.
Restoration Springs—the “next step” for recovering addicts
After completing rehab, many individuals face overwhelming challenges—no money, no job, no home, no driver’s license, and sometimes unresolved legal issues—all while striving to maintain their sobriety.
Lisa and Bill believe that having a “next step” is crucial to recovery.
Restoration Springs provides residents with a transitional space where they can access support, care, and opportunities for growth during their recovery. Additionally, stable employment and peer support help participants build a sense of belonging within the Fayette community.
“When we started the Will Bright Foundation, we knew we wanted to serve in the space of next steps for people in recovery. That has proven to be a win-win for both our residents and the businesses of Fayette.
It allows the opportunity for a person to participate in the workforce and the community a chance to hire much-needed support. We are so grateful to be serving in rural west Alabama.”

Providing stability + support
The peer-led program at Restoration Springs provides:
- Monthly life plan conversations
- Transportation services
- Trauma-informed care
- Recovery meetings + small groups
- Vocational growth opportunities
- Workforce development training
Beyond providing workforce development and transportation, Restoration Springs focuses on spiritual fulfillment. By helping men set goals and create future plans, the program builds a strong support system and an internal sense of purpose.
“Because of the support at Restoration Springs, I’ve grown spiritually more than ever before.
I go to work every day and don’t worry about the past. It’s like a family here.”
