Five Guys closes: What’s next for Brookwood Village?
Reading time: 2 minutes
The last tenant within Brookwood Village’s original footprint has closed its doors for good.
Last week, the popular burger joint Five Guys closed at Brookwood Village. Five Guys has been the only establishment operating at the once-popular mall since Hickory Tavern left in September 2023.
What’s next for Brookwood Village?
Five Guys departure follows a proposal to renovate and convert the former Belk Building at Brookwood Village into a medical facility for Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, which is currently undergoing approval by the Homewood city government.
In November, the Homewood Planning Commission recommended the development to the Homewood City Council. The vote was 6 to 2 with an abstention.
The city’s Planning and Development Committee is expected to hear the proposal this month, followed by a public hearing and potential vote by the whole Council.
During the November 5th meeting representatives for Andrews told the Planning Commission they hope to break ground on the new facility during the first quarter of 2025.
