The Birmingham Squadron announced a partnership with the Lakeshore Foundation for a new practice home for Alabama’s only professional basketball team. The Squadron, who are the NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, will now use the Lakeshore Foundation as their primary practice facility, with select practices being hosted at the BJCC’s Legacy Arena.
“We could not be happier to partner with Lakeshore Foundation as this incredible organization becomes our new practice home. While we also look back and express our thanks to Birmingham Southern College and its staff for hosting our practices the past three years, Lakeshore Foundation offers us state-of-the-art facilities to help prepare our team for its season.”
– Squadron general manager Leslie Claybrook.
The Lakeshore Foundation has plenty of experience when it comes to hosting high-level athletes and teams, serving as a US Olympic and Paralympic training site. The foundation also serves as the national governing body for USA Wheelchair Rugby as well as Boccia United States.
“This is a major upgrade for our organization as we partner with Lakeshore Foundation and its Olympic and Paralympic level training facilities. The facility gives our players and staff the ability to perform their jobs at the highest of levels.”
– Squadron head coach T.J. Saint
The Birmingham Squadron tip off the 2024-25 season against the Mexico City Capitanes on November 9 at Legacy Arena at the BJCC.
