Alabamians give over $3B to charity annually
If you haven’t heard of AFP, now is a great time to discover what it’s all about.
Founded in 1960, AFP is a member-based organization with more than 31,000 members in 235 chapters worldwide. Its goal? To advance philanthropy to uplift communities across the country.
Since 1982, AFP Alabama has hosted a yearly National Philanthropy Day to recognize the individuals and organizations whose achievements have made a significant impact across Birmingham and the state.
Here are a few more things to know about AFP Alabama and National Philanthropy Day:
- National Philanthropy Day is Alabama’s premiere philanthropy celebration.
- 293 philanthropists, individuals + foundations have been honored across 8 awards over 42 years.
- Alabama foundations give over $229M annually to charity.
- Alabamians give over $3B to charity annually, representing 4.87% of the state’s annual household income.
This year, AFP Alabama’s National Philanthropy luncheon will recognize the spirit of Alabama while awarding eight honorees who best exemplify what it means to create positive change.
