For some people, employment provides more than a paycheck—it provides a sense of purpose and community. This is true for every Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED employee I’ve met.

We spoke with five associates from the Culture of Learning Program in Birmingham and there’s one thing they all agree on—UNITED is a great place to work. Here’s why.

Coca-Cola UNITED Culture of Learning Program

Culture of Learning is Coca-Cola UNITED’s internal program that equips associates with the resources and tools needed to excel in their roles.

Greg Quinney and Elisha Miller are Large Store Merchandiser Trainers. Merchandisers are the men and women who stock the shelves and build the beautiful Coca-Cola displays at your local grocery store!

Both took the opportunity to train other associates when the Culture of Learning Program was introduced last year.

“I wanted to have a career where I could make an impact, not only on myself but on other people. The best way to do that is by training, teaching and reaching up through this program.”

Echoing Elisha’s thoughts on the program, Greg knows how crucial it is to train associates in an inclusive and encouraging atmosphere.

“The thing that separates the training [at UNITED] is the fact that it caters to every type of learning style. It’s not just generalized, it’s specific.

Whether you’re a hands-on learner, or you learn by reading or writing, it caters to that.”

Q + A with Coca-Cola UNITED associates

I sat down with three merchandiser trainees to learn more about the Culture of Learning Program.

Let’s meet them.

What separates the training at Coca-Cola UNITED?

  • Zandra: “They really care for you and help you learn how to do the job; not just putting you out there for you to do it alone.”
  • Austin: “It’s really structured, and not just sticking you in front of a computer to sit there and watch. It’s very hands-on.”
  • Sam: “Before we ever step foot on site, we’re getting the training and education to prepare ourselves before we go into the stores.”

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

  • Sam: “Everything’s changing, nothing’s gonna be perfect and your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.”
