The Highland Park Neighborhood Association is hosting its first “open neighborhood” on Sunday, October 13 with lemonade, live music, door prizes, neighborly camaraderie and more—and you’re invited!
“It’s Nice to Have You in Highland Park”
Located just south of downtown Birmingham, Highland Park is a charming neighborhood with a mix of single-family homes, apartment complexes, restaurants and other businesses. The neighborhood is also home to three cozy parks:
- Rhodes Park — 2800 Highland Ave, Birmingham, AL 35205
- Caldwell Park — 2500 Highland Ave, Birmingham, AL 35205
- Rushton Park — 3000 Highland Ave, Birmingham, AL 35205
On Sunday, October 13, the Highland Park Neighborhood Association is hosting its first “It’s Nice to Have You in Highland Park” afternoon of community and celebration.

- When: Sunday, October 13 from 3PM to 5PM (with an after party at Rojo)
“It’s Nice to Have You in Highland Park” kicks off at 3PM with a viewing of the Birmingham Historical Society‘s exhibit on the homes of Highland Avenue, followed by a tour of the Alabama Audubon offices and the courtyard, lobby and 7th floor apartments at the Greenbriar at the Altamont.
Next, attendees can enjoy fresh lemonade on the front porches of the Burnett-Morrow House, Shook House and the Brown House, three historic homes along Highland Avenue.
Stick around for an afterparty at Rojo‘s side room with music, food + drinks and more.

“It’s Nice to Have You in Highland Park” will be hosted at several locations throughout Highland Park:
- Birmingham Historical Society offices
- Tour this non-profit responsible for researching, publishing and promoting the history and heritage of the Highland Park community. They will have a new exhibit on display: “Highland Houses, Photographs of the Grand Avenue in 1939”. They will also have books on Birmingham available for purchase, including It’s Nice to Live in Birmingham, a reprint of the 1963 classic that launched our city’s motto!

- Mosey on next door for a peek at what the Audubon Society is doing for Alabama’s birds and to get an event button!

- While exploring Greenbriar’s beautiful courtyard and lobby, enter a drawing for a Rojo gift card! (no purchase necessary). They will also have a 7th floor apartment open for touring.
