NEW: Popular Atlanta-based upscale Chinese restaurant coming to Homewood

Urban Hai, a popular upscale Atlanta-based Chinese restaurant plans to open in Homewood by the end of the year.

The new restaurant will move into space formerly occupied by Michael’s Steakhouse in the lower level of the Aloft Hotel located at 1903 29th Avenue South, according to SRS Birmingham.

Second Urban Hai coming to Birmingham Metro

Owned by renowned chef Hai Wang and restaurateur Gary Lin, last month the duo announced their intention to open up their first Urban Hai at the Denham Building in Birmingham’s Parkside neighborhood near Railroad Park.

Founded in 2022 the restaurant specializes in traditional dishes and Szechuan-style cuisine, such as:

  • Peking Roast Duck
  • Crispy Pork Belly
  • Home Style Bok Choy
  • Szechuan Kung Pao Chicken
  • Mapo Tofu

The restaurant expects to open in Homewood at the end of the year.
