Abhi Sainju, the chef behind Abhi Eatery + Bar and Maro, is opening his third Mountain Brook restaurant on September 19.

Called Surf Hound, the restaurant’s cuisine and vibe is inspired by 1960-1970’s surf culture and coastal towns from around the world. The new eatery is located in the heart of Mountain Brook Village at 2721 Cahaba Road.

“The beach is a happy place for many of us, including myself, and we all become the most relaxed version of ourselves. With Surf Hound, I wanted to celebrate those nostalgic memories and emulate that same environment, but with an elevated take on the coastal food that we all know and love.”

The interior has a beach-like feel to it with surfboards hanging on the walls.

Check out the menu:

  • Fresh oysters
  • Fish tacos
  • Grouper sandwich.
  • Burgers, ranging from all-beef and bison patties to turkey patties marinated for 24 hours to maximize flavor.
  • Octo Reef Salad with tender octopus
  • Cry Cry Cry, a spicey Wagyu filet that is Sainju’s take on a popular Asian dish

Besides the meals, Surf Hound serves a wide variety of desserts and cocktails.
