First-ever nonprofits film festival coming to Bham
Reading time: 2 minutes

For the first time ever, Alabama Association of Non-Profits (AAN) will be bringing 10 non-profit films to Birmingham.
This spring, AAN held a competitive grant program to select ten nonprofits around the community.
Starting in October, we’ll get to see these local films in action.
What is the Alabama Association of Non-Profits?
Created in 1996, the AAN seeks to spotlight non-profits’ talent, impact and leadership by highlighting ten foundations.
Here are the ten non-profits and what they specialize in:
- Aum Foundation: empowering young women through mentorship
- Birmingham Corps: advance equity and racial justice
- Birmingham Education Foundation: works to increase the number of students in Birmingham City Schools
- College Choice Foundation: provides test prep, essay writing, financial aids + visits to future college students
- GirlSpring: empowers young women and fuels creativity
- Khairi and Little Angel’s Memorial: provides maternal resources
- South Baldwin Literacy Council: provides literacy instruction
- STREAM Innovations: helps students explore science, technology, education, reading, engineering, and arts
- The Flourish Alabama: focuses on using art for community growth
- The Red Barn: provide therapeutic programs that benefit individuals with disabilities
“Without nonprofits, children and their families would lose real opportunities to thrive, holding our state back. It’s past time to showcase these stellar nonprofits and give them the applause they deserve.”
Danielle Dunbar, Executive Director, Alabama Association of Non-Profits
What to expect at the festival
Join AAN for a night of laughter and community.
There will be a red-carpet photo booth, snacks and a panel discussion about philanthropy.
The panelists will also provide insight on receiving donor gifts.
“Ultimately, this festival is about you and me joining in their efforts, spreading the word about their work and financially supporting these luminaries. All of the nonprofits showcased are Oscar winners in our eyes.”
Danielle Dunbar, Executive Director, Alabama Association of Non-Profits
