Iconic vacant houses in Highland Park coming soon to market
Reading time: 2 minutes
Interested in restoring two of Highland Park’s most iconic dwellings? If so, you’re in luck—two of Highland Park’s “Three Sisters” houses are coming soon to market.
About Highland Park’s Three Sisters
If you’ve ever paid attention while driving through Highland Park, you’ve likely noticed the trio of houses on the 2700 block of Highland Avenue facing Rufus Rhodes Park.
Lovingly referred to as Highland Park’s “Three Sisters,” these three houses were built in the early 1900s and originally inhabited by three sisters and their husbands:
- George Harris residence — 2731 Highland Ave, Birmingham, AL 35205
- Robert Warner residence — 2733 Highland Ave, Birmingham, AL 35205
- Eugene Enslen residence — 2737 Highland Ave, Birmingham, AL 35205
The Eugene Enslen residence was restored in 1994 and is currently home to Snable Attorneys at Law.
However, the George Harris and Robert Warner residences have been vacant for decades. Over the years, the homes have fallen into disrepair; plywood covers doors and windows and overgrown vines slowly creep up the gray limestone facade. The Robert Warner residence is even missing its entire front porch.
Now, the two vacant homes are finally coming to the market.
George Harris and Robert Warner residences coming to market
Earlier today (August 26), the George Harris and Robert Warner residences were listed as a combined lot for sale on Redfin at a price tag of $1,000,000.
According to the listing, the two homes are, “ripe for redevelopment with great potential in the heart of Highland Park.”
Elizabeth Sanfelippo, President of the Highland Park Neighborhood Association, has been working for years to get these two homes restored.
“I and many other residents are thrilled to see these homes finally on the market after pleading with the owner for decades to fix them up or sell.”
