More revelry + fun awaits
Anyone who’s been to Mobile a time or two knows that we’ll throw a parade for just about anything. We even threw a second line parade to honor Jimmy Buffett’s passing last year. Which makes it fitting that SOS Fest kicks off with a lively second line parade through historic downtown Mobile to honor the “child of the Mardi Gras” himself.
The headlining musical act is A1A, a Buffett-approved cover band. They’ve even filled in for Buffett’s backup band, the Coral Reefers, a time or two.
No Port City party would be complete without elaborate costumes, gags and riffs. There’s a costume contest, so don your best tropical shirt and straw hat to show off your Parrothead pride.
Still need more fun? Look into becoming a Very Important Pirate (VIP). For just $250, you’ll get access to extra amenities like:
- VIP-only reception on Friday night
- Private bathrooms + hospitality areas
- Free SOS Fest swag bag
- Complimentary food + drink
- Hotel shuttles
Whether you opt for the VIP experience or just head downtown wearing a parrot hat—you’re sure to have a great time at SOS Fest.
Make a weekend of it!
If you want to come for SOS Fest and stay the weekend—we don’t blame you! There are a few different ways you can feel Jimmy Buffett’s legacy in Mobile during your trip, like:
- Trying his favorite cheeseburger at the Dew Drop Inn (legend has it, the burger here partially inspired ‘Cheeseburger in Paradise’).
- Have a drink at one of Buffett’s favorite Mobile-area bars, BLUEGILL on the Causeway.
- Hit the beaches on Dauphin Island to connect with the shores Buffett loved so much.
Parrotheads are uniting at SOS Fest this September—are you joining?
