Nine new building permits were issued across the state this past week for construction projects exceeding $1 million, and the largest of those permits by far was for a new sanctuary at Faith Presbyterian Church.

Here’s what we know:

Construction on Faith Presbyterian Church

The $24 million building permits issued last week for Faith Presbyterian in Hoover will result in a new sanctuary twice the size of the church’s current one.

Here are a few details:

The new sanctuary will seat 1,100 people.
This is the largest capital project in the church’s 50 year history.
The plan is to convert the existing sanctuary into a fellowship hall to be used for congregational gatherings, parties, receptions and community events.
Brasfield & Gorrie is listed as the lead contractor on this project.
