When I first met Bailey, one thought jumped immediately to mind—she’s so fun!

Her bubbly spirit is contagious and she’s doing something she never expected—opening a Pilates studio in Birmingham.

Originally from Auburn, she first set her sights on California where she planned on having her own event-planning businesses.

It wasn’t long after moving across the country that a friend introduced her to her first BODYROK class. She’s been hooked ever since.

“I fell in love with BODYROK because of the challenge and community. No matter how often I was taking classes, I was always challenged.

The BODYROK community is like no other. We support and push each other to be the best version of ourselves.”

From Cali to Bham

Have you tried BODYROK? (Jacob Blankenship / Bham Now)

It wasn’t long before Bailey set her original goal of being an event planner aside to become a full-time BODYROK instructor and decided to move back to Alabama to be closer to friends and family and open her very own studio.

Why Birmingham?

“When choosing a location, I realized Birmingham had nothing like this. BODYROK is not your typical Pilates studio.

Pepper Place stood out to me because it has such a strong community of businesses that support each other.”

Not your average workout

What is BODYROK about and what is a hybrid Pilates studio? It combines high-energy, music-driven workouts that combine Pilates, cycling and strength training.

If you’ve ever used a Pilates reformer, you know just how incredible they are. But have you ever used a BODYROK reformer?

For those not in the know, a Pilates reformer is a workout machine that features a platform on wheels that rolls up and down as you perform specific moves.

These machines are a key component of BODYROK workouts and also have some cool additions to a typical reformer that make for a killer workout.

Here are a few:

  • They can only be found in BODYROK studios. Yep, they’re that exclusive.
  • They include a Jump Board, which is used for more intense cardio workouts.
  • They include 3 sets of ropes, endless spring adjustments + a bungee—all allowing for more personalized workouts.

We’ve all fallen into the boredom trap of doing the same workout on repeat.

When learning about BODYROK, one thing stood out—it focuses on all areas of the body.

Not only is this a great way to engage more muscle groups and avoid weight loss plateaus, but you’ll also never be bored.

“We have days that are more cardio-focused and days that are more focused on specific muscle groups like glutes, core and upper body.”

Maybe I’m just in major need of a full-body workout, but this sounds amazing.

Creating a BODYROK community in Birmingham

While BODYROK is a great way to be active and healthy, Bailey’s main goal is to create a community by hosting social gatherings and outings as well as community service opportunities.

“The BODYROK community is like no other. We support and push each other to be the best versions of ourselves.

By fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, BODYROK can become a hub for those in Birmingam to connect and motivate each other.”
