Get active with these 5 upcoming triathlons + races around Birmingham

Runners, swimmers and bikers, rejoice! From now until August, five dynamic races and triathlons are coming to and near the Birmingham area.

Keep reading to learn all about these exciting opportunities to get active.

1. Hotter N’ Hell

This race is a battle against the heat, with participants choosing to run either nine or 18 miles through Oak Mountain State Park.

If you do decide to sweat it out, Hotter N’ Hell has some mandatory rules that say all runners must:

  • Carry a minimum 16 oz. of water at the start of each lap
  • Consume electrolytes during the race
  • Refill their water bottle at the Peavine aid station

Hotter N’ Hell will be tough, but it’s perfect for those seeking a true challenge.

2. Le Tour de Cahaba

Rain or shine, get ready to bike with Cahaba Cycles in their exhilarating race.

Participants can choose from six different routes:

  • 5 miles
  • 10 miles
  • 20 miles
  • 35 miles
  • 45 miles
  • 65 miles

After the race, there will be a cookout at the Homewood Store.

3. Mountain Lakes Triathlon

The 37th Annual Mountain Lakes Triathlon will challenge you and provide beautiful views.

Here is what you can expect:

  • Swim in the shallow waters of Lake Guntersville.
  • Bike the lake on a flat loop course.
  • Run along a lakeside greenway.
  • After crossing the finish line, celebrate with a pool party + local food.

Traveling from Birmingham to Guntersville is worth it for one of the country’s longest-running triathlons.

4. Ridge to Blazing Ridge Trail Race

If you want to feel the burn, Ridge to Blazing Ridge is for you. The course has several long, steep climbs.

Just don’t forget your water, because it is required at all times during the race.

5. Buster Britton Memorial Triathlon

The 39th Annual Buster Britton Memorial Triathlon is a tribute to a beloved local athlete. Participants will experience a serene lake swim, rolling hills for biking and a picturesque run.

Athletes from various backgrounds can come test their tenacity, no matter their experience level.
