I don’t know about you, but fall is my favorite time of year. I love the changing colors of the leaves, cooler temperatures and—most of all—getting frightened at haunted houses!

So, when I had the opportunity to get a sneak peek at Birmingham’s newest haunted attraction, I couldn’t say no.

Read on to learn more about Conjure Haunted Attraction, coming to Birmingham this September.

Introducing Conjure Haunted Attraction

As a self-proclaimed haunted house junkie, I am thrilled to see a new haunted house come to Birmingham.

Founded by Mambo Baptise, Alan Waugh and Jake Higginbotham, Conjure Haunted Attraction is an upcoming haunted house open year-round. And the best part? It’s a non-profit benefitting Andrew’s Place, an organization dedicated to helping LGBTQIA+ survivors of domestic abuse.

Conjure Haunted Attraction began with an idea centered on helping survivors of domestic abuse. The attraction itself will be a non-profit organization that will use proceeds from Andrew’s Place to build a shelter and safe haven designed to offer services to survivors.

With the community in mind, owners Mambo, Alan and Jake will create a shelter for those in need while having a large haunted attraction right next door.

The owners are no strangers to fright and are planning on bringing some of the most scariest props to their haunt. They began building their dream back in 2023 when they combined each of their talents as a way to give back.

“This has been a lifelong dream of mine. I’ve had to live life to get to this point and that’s what brought me to build this traction where the proceeds can go to domestic violence survivors.”

The unlikely trio met one night at a Halloween event and have been close ever since.

The business partners, each with their own ventures—Alan’s heavily developed business mindset from realty practices and owning La Calle 205 in Downtown Birmingham, Mambo’s ownership of Magic City Conjure in Downtown Birmingham, and Jake’s experience in haunted attractions since 2012—were able to combine their interests to create something specialized in their respective areas.

“I met Mambo in in August of 2022 at an event for Halloween at the Haven and I met Jake through Mambo.

I come from a commerical real estate development and so when we announced our plans, people went crazy.”

Together, the trio combined their similar interests in entertainment and giving back to create Birmingham’s only haunted attraction to be open all year long!
