Welcome to June, Birmingham!

It’s the start of another week, and we’re excited about some awesome new openings—from a long-anticipated wine bar to the return of a beloved local print shop.

Also, check out two local spots that have found a new home in Birmingham.

Openings

1. Freddy’s Bistro & Bar | Homewood

This highly-anticipated spot is finally open. Located in the former home of Nabeel’s Cafe on Oxmoor Road, Freddy’s new location serves a diverse selection of wine and small bites like charcuterie boards, tomato salad and duck fat fries.

Both the menu and current hours are expected to expand in the coming months.

2. Mizzen+Main | The Summit

Last week, a new retailer opened its doors at The Summit. Mizzen+Main specializes in comfortable menswear, including golf shirts, pull-overs, hats and more.

3. IMAGE Studios | Lakeview

Now open in Lakeview, IMAGE Studios offers salon suites to beauty gurus and estheticians looking for a space to cultivate their own business and craft their ultimate personalized workspace.

Among the mini-suites, there are entrepreneurs offering services like hairstyling, makeup, massage therapy, waxing and even tattooing.

4. Yellowhammer Creative | Pepper Place

A Birmingham favorite has announced its comeback—Yellowhammer Print Shop is returning to its shop in Pepper Place. Known for locally-inspired t-shirts, prints and other artwork, Yellowhammer is currently only open on Saturdays during Pepper Place market hours while they transition back into retail operations.

5. MicroFlex | Irondale

MicroFlex has unveiled plans for a new facility in Irondale, featuring an array of small units available for lease. These versatile spaces cater to both personal and professional needs, ranging from storage units to compact business operation hubs and beyond.

6. Sanctum Tattoos & Comics | Downtown Birmingham

On May 30, Sanctum Tattoo & Comics closed its doors in Avondale. The beloved tattoo parlor and comic book shop is moving to downtown Birmingham at the corner of 24th Street N and 2nd Ave N.

7. 2 Dough Girlz | Downtown Birmingham

2 Dough Girlz pizzeria is making the move from Woodlawn to downtown Birmingham. According to co-owners Anita and Jennifer Craig, the Woodlawn store has closed while they prepare to open up shop in the new location.

While the restaurant has not yet announced its new address, stay tuned for details in the coming weeks.
