What’s new + coming soon in Birmingham—plus one business we’re sad to see close

It’s the start of another week and as always, there are all kinds of happenings around Birmingham.
From a popular pub closed for renovation to a new restaurant coming to 2nd Ave N, here’s a peek at some new stuff in town—plus one spot we’re sad to see close.
New opening
1. Sculpt B’ham | Lakeview
Birmingham’s favorite locally-owned fitness gym Sculpt B’ham has relocated to Lakeview. The new property features twice the amount of space and equipment, outdoor space and many more new amenities.

2. Sloan’s | 2nd Ave N
Located in the former home of Pale Eddie’s Pour House at 2308 2nd Avenue North, Sloan’s is a new concept from the owners of Bocca and Bistro 218. The restaurant will serve high-end whiskies, bourbon, spirits and a wide selection of wines as well as a “cold kitchen” serving many kinds of charcuterie boards and finger foods.

3. Dave’s Pub | Five Points
According to a post on the Dave’s Pub Instagram account, the iconic Dave’s Pub in Five Points has new owners. Dan Williams and his wife Sherri have purchased the pub and intend to implement some renovations. They also indicated they will keep the current staff.

4. The Birmingham Candy Company | Mountain Brook
In a recent Instagram post, Birmingham Candy Company announced that May 31 will be its last day of operations. The company has been serving handcrafted confections in Birmingham for almost a decade.
