The end of winter and the return of warm weather marks the start of mating season for cats. As a result, most kittens are born during “kitten season” from April through October.

As hundreds of kittens are born, many are surrendered to local shelters. Adopting a kitten or fostering can help shelters make room to care for homeless, abused, neglected and abandoned animals.

To avoid kitten overpopulation, consider getting your pet spayed or neutered. With organizations like Alabama Spay + Neuter, you can reduce your pet’s risk of disease, ensuring they live a longer, happier life.
