From the family that brought the beloved Zoë’s Kitchen comes a brand new endeavor, Marky’s Kitchen.

Here’s what we know about Cahaba Height’s new addition.

The Cassimus family’s newest journey

According to a press release, Marcus and Zoë Cassimus got into the restaurant biz in 1995 with the opening of Zoë’s Kitchen, the Birmingham-based Greek and Mediterranean hot spot (and one of my favorite places on Earth).

Marcus and Zoë’s son John brought his entrepreneurial spirit to the family business—founding local favorites like Maki Fresh, Jinsei and Miss Dot’s Kitchen.

Now, years later, the family is opening their newest spot in dedication to their dad: Marky’s Kitchen.

“Helping my father open a restaurant with his name on the sign will be one of the highlights of my life. I’ve seen what it’s like to see my mom’s name on the steps of the New York Stock Exchange, and now it’s Dad’s turn.”

Moving to the former Local Roots location in Cahaba Heights, Marky’s Kitchen is inspired by Marcus Cassimus’ undeniable love and dedication to the restaurant industry in Birmingham and beyond.

What’s on the menu? Marky’s Kitchen will combine signature items with certain family Cassimus family favorites.

If the food is anything like the family’s other restaurants, I know it’ll be a hit.

The grand opening date is coming soon—stay tuned for all the info.
