Earth Day is April 22 and is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in nature and give back by cleaning up and caring for Birmingham. We’ve got 5 ways for you to celebrate Mother Nature around the Magic City.

1. Hoover Library State of Recycling

Hoover Library is hosting a State of Recycling event. The event will consist of a panel discussing how recycling is changing and evolving in Alabama as technological breakthroughs and awareness is on the rise. Join in hearing more about the trends that are working in our community as well as what innovations we can look forward to in the future.

Pssst… One of our very own, Pat Byington, will be there to speak on the panel!

2. Earthbound Earth Fest

Rock band-Earthbound-is headlining an annual outdoor concert benefiting Black Warrior Riverkeeper at Avondale Brewing Company. A $5 donation is suggested upon entrance where there will also be food trucks, art and merchandise available for purchase.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Black Warrior Riverkeeper—a nonprofit with a mission to protect Alabama’s Black Warrior River watershed—by advocating for clean water.

This event is family-friendly, but it is required that all guests under age 21 are accompanied by an adult at all times. Check out Black Warrior Riverkeeper’s website for more details about the event and opportunities to become a BWRk volunteer.

Earth Day is the perfect opportunity to be reminded of the importance of having a sustainable lifestyle. LeNell’s Beverage Boutique is hosting an event to celebrate just that. Stop by to drop off used clothing, glass bottles, corks and extra hotel toiletries you have lying around. All donations will be taken to The TAKE Resource Center.

While you’re there, you can give some of LeNell’s eco-friendly alcoholic and non-alcoholic products a try while learning about the benefits of using organic brands.
