Beautiful weather is here, and it’s time to get your bike in shape for the season. If you’ve been thinking about bringing your bike back from retirement, keep reading to learn where to start, where to ride and for details about group rides in The Magic City.

Where to ride your bike in Birmingham

1. Trussville City Park

What’s better than riding alongside the mighty Cahaba River? Get ready for scenic single and double track trails with a short section by the Cahaba River.

2. Shades Valley Greenway

Take a ride on the 5.1 miles out and back trail in Birmingham. This 1.5 hour ride is open all year round and ready for you.

3. Tannehill State Park

Tannehill State Park has 16+ miles of trails that run along historic paths and paved roads, making it an ideal trail to explore and enjoy the beauty of nature.

4. Oak Mountain State Park

Take a ride and enjoy Oak Mountain State Park scenery view 29 miles of the trail made up of mostly singletrack with some gravel and paved portions.

5. Turkey Creek

Around 3.5 miles of moderate-to-high-grade multi-purpose trails are waiting for you in Turkey Creek nature preserve. Take your bike on a ride like no other.

1. Birmingham Bicycle Club

If you’re interested in joining a cycling club, Birmingham Bicycle Club is a great option. It’s open to families and if you’re looking to ride solo, it’s a great option too. Family memberships start at $45 a year, while individual memberships start at just $35 a year.
