1. Experience Disney in an all-new way in Birmingham
Love Disney? Get ready to be enthralled by the BMA’s newest exhibition, Heroes and Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume, presented by PNC.
You’ll see 70 iconic costumes straight from your favorite Disney movies. Some include:

2. Engage with hands-on spaces at ArtVenture
Unleash your inner creativity at ArtVenture, BMA’s interactive gallery for families with children ages 5-12.
For crawlers and toddlers, the Sonat Gallery is a safe environment where your little ones can discover the wonder of light, color and texture.
Children ages 5-12 will love the Hess Gallery. It features over 15 hands-on learning stations for kids to learn through play.
From an interactive weaving wall and stop-motion technology station to a maker space offering projects like printmaking and pottery, there’s endless opportunity for expression.

3. Enjoy lunch at the BMA cafe
After a busy day exploring the BMA, you’ll want to make a pit stop at the museum’s Juniper cafe.
Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite between gallery visits or looking for a sit-down meal, this little eatery is charming and delicious.
Our pick: Turkey sandwich with aged cheddar and garlic aioli on Continental Bakery’s light and fluffy Focaccia bread.
4. Explore the Nappy Roots Exhibition
Celebrate your roots in style. Nappy Roots: A Transatlantic Story of Hair, Struggle, and Liberation is inspired by Kerry James Marshall’s School of Beauty, School of Culture.
In collaboration with the BMA and interculturalist & naturalista Bettina Byrd-Giles, this incredible work honors the CROWN Act of 2022, which prohibits discrimination based on hairstyle or texture.
This exhibition is a joyful ode to self-expression and the power of owning your unique style.
5. The Museum Shop
Located inside the Birmingham Museum of Art, The Museum Shop offers a thoughtfully curated collection of items and gifts made in Alabama and around the world.
In addition to merchandise derived from the Museum’s collection and exhibitions, the gift shop also has a range of coffee table and art-related books.
