Now that we’re enjoying warmer weather here in Birmingham, it’s time to get your garden ready for spring. Read on for plant sales happening around town, plus local shops to help you spring in to the season.
1. Birmingham Botanical Gardens Spring Plant Sale
This is a plant sale you don’t want to miss.
Hundreds of plants will be available for purchase. Proceeds from the sale will support the Friends of Birmingham Botanical Garden’s mission: to protect, nurture and share the wonders of Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
Be sure to bring your portable carts and wagons. Checks and cards will be the only accepted payments.

2. Ruffner Mountain Greenhouse Annual Plant Sale
Get your bloom on at Ruffner Mountain’s annual plant sale. Shop unique plants including Cherokee Sedge, Black-eyed Susan and Woodland Phlox every Saturday in April.

3. Aldridge Gardens Plant Sale
Own a little bit of Aldridge Gardens when you buy a pass-along plant that lived there. Volunteers and gardeners will be on hand to help with selections and to give advice about placement, care and maintenance.
Fun fact—the star of the show is their “Snowflake” hydrangea.

4. Walden Farms Plant Sale
Walden Farms will have a wide range of plants available, including edible and medicinal perennial plants. This one is definitely worth the trip over to Bessemer!

5. Collier’s Nursery
Collier’s Nursery is one of Birmingham’s most popular garden centers because of its helpful customer service AND its large selection of high-quality plants and garden items.

6. Andy’s Creekside Nursery

7. Sweet Peas Garden Shop

8. Leaf & Petal
We can’t do a Birmingham plant guide without including Leaf & Petal. With four different locations, they have some of the best flowers, plants, garden decor and so much more.

Rockett’s Bug Juice Gardens has been serving the Birmingham area since 1991. In their shop, you’ll find home-grown flowers, assorted pottery and iron works.
