Meet the Adult Female Athlete of the Year

(Alabama State Games)
Jasmine Williams has been playing pickleball for three years. (Alabama State Games)

The current Adult Female Athlete of the Year is Jasmine Williams, a phenomenal pickleball player, mother and retired Marine.

After retiring from active duty, Jasmine was looking for a way to stay fit when she discovered pickleball. She tried it out at her local YMCA and immediately fell in love.

After playing casually for a year, her pickleball coach convinced her to take the competitive path. She’s been playing in tournaments for two years now with her partner Lesia Williams.

“Lesia encourages me to go all over the courts across Alabama with her whenever she sees a competition. That’s how we got into the Alabama State Games.

I like how well the Alabama State Games are organized compared to some of the other tournaments I’ve been in. The competition is really good.”

Meet the Youth Female Athlete of the Year

(Alabama State Games)
Meet Jordyn Hill. (Alabama State Games)

14-year-old Jordyn Hill has a passion for teaching archery to the next generation and has made a huge impact on her local archery community.

When nominations opened for Youth Female Athlete of the Year, the Alabama State Games committee quickly received six nominations for Jordyn.

Take a look at what she’s accomplished so far:

  • Alabama State Games Gold Medalist
  • Three-time Shooter of the Year for the State of Alabama
  • 2nd and 3rd place finisher in the National Archery Youth Tour (2021 + 2023)

After participating in the Alabama State games for six years, Jordyn said being named Female Youth Athlete of the Year was something she’s wanted to accomplish for a while.

She was able to celebrate via Facetime with her dad, Zach, who is currently deployed.

Her mother described Jordyn’s passion for the sport and for helping others in her nomination:

“She does fundraisers to help lower-income kids to have access to equipment and targets. She volunteers her time teaching younger kids archery and does what she can to give them the confidence to do their best.”
