Each of the 29 high schools chosen will be the first in their state to perform the play.

Schools competed for the honor by making a video describing why their school is the most “magical” place to produce the Tony award-winning show.

Hewitt-Trussville’s theatre program will perform the work later this year, between October 15 and November 10.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the producers of the play are hoping the high school version “will broaden the play’s audience even further by introducing younger generations to the magic of live theatre.”
