Behind the Giggles & Grace Consignment Sale in Birmingham

Picture a typical yard sale. Now, multiply it by over 350 consignors, each selling dozens of items. This gives you an idea of just how huge the Giggles & Grace Consignment Sale is. As you can imagine, a sale of this magnitude requires a mighty and dedicated team of volunteers to make it a success. 

Ann Murphy is one of these amazing volunteers.

If you’ve ever been to one of Asbury UMC’s Giggles & Grace Consignment Sales, you know how friendly and helpful everyone is. During her time as a volunteer, Ann has also helped make the sale more inclusive.

It’s not just the sale itself that’s huge, but the impact on countless families and local missionaries that makes the Giggles & Grace Consignment Sale so incredible. 

The Giggles & Grace Consignment Sale provides a variety of children’s items, from clothes to furniture—all on sale for affordable and/or incredibly discounted prices. 

Asbury’s goal is to not only help members of the Birmingham-area community but also missionary organizations in our city and around the world. 

Here are some ways Giggles & Grace achieves this goal:

• Consignment shoppers can donate dry food items during the sale, which Asbury collects and donates to its food pantry. The pantry is open to anyone in need.

• Community members who need assistance purchasing children’s clothing and other essentials can apply for vouchers to make shopping easier.

• Consignors have the opportunity to donate any or all of their unsold sale items to Asbury who will then donate them to local charities. Due to generous donations from consigners from the Fall 2023 sale, Asbury was able to donate 120+ bags of items to seven local charity partners, including:

  • Grace Klein
  • Make-A-Wish
  • Oak Mountain Missions
  • Shelby County Foster Parent Association
  • Sozo Children
  • Trinity UMC Foster Closet

Insider shopping tips for this Birmingham consignment sale

Psst—to help you make the most of your Giggles & Grace Consignment Sale shopping experience, here are some worthwhile tips:

1. Bring some dry food goods to donate during the sale and you’ll be entered into a skip-the-line raffle on all sale days.
2. The checkout line is the longest on Fridays from 10AM-1PM + Saturdays from 10-11AM. Hit the sale in the early morning or late afternoon and save time.
3. Shop the sale on Saturday, Feb. 10 for half-off on select items.
