Samford men’s basketball maintains longest win streak in the country
Reading time: 2 minutes
Whether you’re a Bulldog fan or have a lifelong love for the game—you can’t deny the energy that Samford University basketball has brought to the Southern Conference (and across the country) this season.
Longest win streak in the country
This undeniable energy is supported by the Samford men’s basketball 16-game win streak—the longest in the country!
We spoke to head coach Bucky McMillan about how he continues to see his team grow.
“You want for your team to get better every game, every week and every year. If you get better every year, then you’re gonna be pretty dang good.
What I can say is we’ve gotten better pretty much consistently every game, and we want to keep that going all the way to the end of the season.”

#BuckyBall
After serving as the head coach at Mountain Brook High School, Bucky McMillan joined Samford in 2020 to head up men’s basketball. Coining “BuckyBall,” McMillan had an immediate impact on the team, university and community.
BuckyBall continues to grow each season, and it’s not stopping anytime soon. (Refer to the 16-game win streak).
The team was tied with Western Carolina for first in the league, but on January 16, the Bulldogs came through with a 75-71 win against the Catamounts.
Samford men’s basketball aiming for 17th win
I’m just as excited as the next person about the success of Samford men’s basketball. I’m not biased, just a proud alumna.
Join me at the next game on Saturday, January 20 at 5PM and anticipate Samford men’s basketball’s 17th win. Bow wow, Bulldogs!
