Lakeview’s Five restaurant vacated, available for lease

Five—a longtime restaurant and bar in Lakeview specializing in a limited, evolving menu—has vacated the property at 744 29th St S, Birmingham.

Founded in Tuscaloosa in 2011, Five is an Alabama restaurant brand that aims to simplify guests’ dining experience by offering a small number of high-quality offerings. How many, you ask? Five. Five dinners, five wines and five signature cocktails.

Due to the success of Five in Tuscaloosa, the owners opened a second location in Birmingham in 2011, followed up by locations in Athens, GA and Gainesville, FL.

After 12 years at 744 29th St S, Birmingham, Five appears to have closed their location in Lakeview. Last week, a Bham Now follower shared that they had seen workers carrying furniture out of the establishment. Now, the building is empty and Five has removed the Birmingham location from its website.

Bham Now reached out to Five for a comment but has not heard back as of publication.

Former Five space available in Lakeview

According to a listing on Loopnet, the former Five space at 744 29th St. S, Birmingham is now available for lease. Christopher Thames of Homewood-based JH Berry Commercial Real Estate is listed as the agent.

• Within walking distance to multiple restaurants, bars and St. Vincent’s
• Space is an outparcel and includes an outdoor seating area
