H2 Real Estate finalizes acquisition on Iron Age Building
According to a press release from H2 Real Estate, the group finalized their acquisition of the Iron Age Building in December 2023.
Nestled on the bustling 20th Street North in Birmingham, the three-story building was constructed in 1886 and was home to many businesses throughout the years, but was left vacant by the mid-1990s.
In 2016, CoreLinQ Innovations purchased the building as part of a redevelopment initiative for the area between 4th and 3rd Avenues, coined as the Iron Age Project.
After undergoing renovations, the Iron Age Building reopened in July 2020 and is now home to many of our Birmingham favorites including:
- Adelaide Matte Designs (AMD)
- Brick & Tin downtown
- Bistro 218
- Concert IDC
What’s next for Iron Age?
In the release, owner of AMD Adelaide Matte expressed her excitement for the building’s new ownership.
“Everyone in the Iron Age is thrilled to have H2 as our new owners! This building is special to downtown Birmingham, as it’s a combination of the historical district’s original buildings and the original downtown strip.
It means a lot that H2 cares about Birmingham’s history and wants to invest the time and money to carry on the legacy of such an iconic building. We’re excited for Iron Age’s future!”

If you’ve passed by Iron Age on 20th Street, you might have seen that there are vacancies on the upper levels. The property management company plans to bring in more businesses to the building and assist in their success.
