Samford University has announced approval of the first phase of a new plan that includes the construction of three residence halls and an approximately 600-space parking addition. Read on for the details.

The Samford Horizon Plan

The Samford University Board of Trustees has unanimously approved the first phase of the Samford Horizon plan—a visionary set of potential campus improvements that responds to the university’s sustained growth in enrollment.

“The plans approved by our Board of Trustees represent an exciting chapter in Samford’s growth and development.

When completed, we anticipate every bed in the new facilities will be filled on opening, and importantly, Samford will once again reach our goal of housing 75% of our undergraduates on campus.”

Samford University President Beck A. Taylor

Here’s a look at what the plan includes:

  • A residence hall for first-year students with 513 beds
  • 2 upper-division residence halls with 140 beds
  • An approximately 600-space parking addition which will be part of the school’s north parking deck

The new facilities will total an estimated $188 million.

Aiding in the project are Johnson Controls, Landmark Development, Robins and Morton, Davis Architects, Perkins and Will, Accenture, Dentons, Citigroup and Steifel and more.
