S-Town, a 2017 podcast from the team behind Serial and This American Life, was hosted by Brian Reed and debuted to national acclaim with 16 million downloads in the first week it was released.

The story follows an eclectic Woodstock man named John B. McLemore, who asks Brian to investigate the son of a wealthy family who’s allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder, sending the series into an unpredictable and dramatic chain of events.

Goodson was featured prominently in the series, most notably as a close friend of McLemore. When McLemore died by suicide during the production of the series, he intended to leave most of his belongings to Goodson but did not have a legal will. Goodson was later charged with stealing items from McLemore’s estate that he believed to be his.
