Jack’s Hamburgers began in Homewood

In 1960, Jack’s set up shop as a drive-in on Oxmoor Road in Homewood. At the time, Jack’s served 10-cent sodas, 15-cent fries and 20-cent shakes. It was a huge hit, with 9 Jack’s locations in Birmingham popping up by the mid-1960s.

Over 60 years later, Jack’s has more than 200 locations across the Southeast in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee and its menu has expanded to include breakfast, chicken, fried pies and much more.
