7 exciting local runs now through Dec. 16

What better way to celebrate the arrival of the holiday season than to get out and enjoy a run with family and friends? Keep reading for more information on 6 exciting runs coming up in Birmingham.

1. UAB Veterans Day 5K

2023 marks the 105th anniversary of Armistice Day, later named Veterans Day. Help honor Veterans by supporting UAB with their 5K run.

• When: November 11 | 8AM
• Location: 800 13th St. S.
• Cost:
  • Children 12 and under free
  • 1-mile fun run: $10
  • 5K for students: $15
  • 5K for veterans: $15
  • General 5K: $30

2. Cross Point 5K

CrossPoint Church in Trussville, will hold its annual Cross-Point 5K and Family Fun Run in November, with all proceeds going towards the CrossPoint Foundation benefiting benevolent needs in the community.

• When: November 18

  • 5K race begins at 8AM
  • 1 mile fun run begins right directly after the 5K

3. Turkey Trot at Junction

This is Ensley Health Club’s first turkey trot and all of the proceeds will go towards their Giving Tuesday campaign benefitting their operational costs. This nonprofit works hard to raise awareness and funds to benefit and give back to their community.

5. Jingle Bell Run Birmingham

This annual arthritis foundation holiday event is perfect for everyone. Register as an individual or bring a team of friends, family and co-workers to run, walk or stroll. Don’t forget to wear your favorite holiday attire!

• When: December 9 | 8AM
• Location: Veterans Park on Valleydale Rd 4800 Valleydale Rd
• Cost:
  • 5K timed (includes shirt and jingle bells): $50
  • 5K untimed (includes shirt and jingle bells): $45

6. Race to the Courthouse

The 36th annual Noojin & White Race to the Courthouse will benefit the YMCA Youth Center. Registration fees will help the children in downtown Birmingham and surrounding communities, providing financial assistance for families in need.

• When: December 9 | 8AM
• Location: The race begins on 1st Ave. S. between Regions Field and Railroad Park. The after-party will be at Good People Brewing Company.
• Cost: $40 race fee, price increases for walk-up registration

7. The Reindeer Dash

Are you ready to dash with the reindeer? Come out December 16 for the 7th annual 5K and 1 mile fun run at Pure Fitness in Vestavia. Wear your favorite holiday getup and don’t forget to bring your family.

• When: December 16 | 7:30AM
• Location: 100 Old Town Rd, suite 100

The annual event started in 1976 known as The Montclair Run and has now grown into the Sam Lapidus Montclair Run hosting over some 1,500 runners of all ages and abilities. This run severe as a Thanksgiving tradition for many families and out-of-town visitors.
