The much-anticipated opening of the Publix in Irondale is opening on Wednesday, November 1st.

Publix anchors new development

One of the largest employee owned companies in the country, Publix is the anchor tenant at Cahaba Crossing—a newly built retail development located at the intersection of Grants Mill Road and Old Leeds Road in Irondale. The grocery store is also the first one to be built in Irondale in 16 years.

Joining the popular supermarket at Cahaba Crossing are the following stores:

  • El Patron Mexican Restaurant
  • Trocadero Hair Salon
  • The UPS Store
  • Allure Nail Spa
  • AT&T
  • Heartland Dental

According to SRS Real Estate Partners, a single 1,260 square foot space remains at the new development.

Cahaba Crossing is one of many new developments happening in Irondale. Last month the city announced the construction of a new dog park. They also have plans to transform the old Zamora Temple into a community center.

“The opening of the Publix grocery store is one of the most highly anticipated events that the City of Irondale has seen in years. Our citizens are excited to be able to shop local, and they are also anxiously awaiting the other restaurants and retail options that are going to be a part of the Publix development. The growth and progress that Irondale is experiencing is something that we’re very proud of and something that we’re looking to continue with the other projects that we have on deck for our parks and municipal facilities.”

Mayor James D. Stewart, Jr.
