Magic City Classic expected to generate $30 million+ for the City of Birmingham

This Saturday is the 82nd annual Magic City Classic–and it’s expected to bring in over $30 million for the Magic City. Keep reading to find out more.

The McDonald’s Magic City Classic is a rivalry football game between Alabama A&M Bulldogs and the Alabama State Hornets held right here in Birmingham at Legion Field. This Saturday, October 28th, will be the 82nd match-up between the two schools–and it’s expected to generate millions of dollars for the Magic City.

The day will begin with the McDonald’s Magic City Classic Parade from 8AM to 11AM, followed by the Coors Light Tailgate Party from 10AM to 2PM and finally the game will kickoff at 2:30PM.

With over 70,000 people in attendance, Saturday will be a huge event for Birmingham residents, college students and football fans alike. Make sure to buy your tickets.

A boost for local businesses

Birmingham typically makes between $25 million and $30 million during each Magic City Classic weekend, but that number is expected to be over $5 million more this year, according to the City of Birmingham Department of Innovation and Economic Opportunity.
