11 local missionaries return home

When members of Shades Mountain Baptist Church were on a mission trip to Israel, they found themselves stuck in a country at the outbreak of war.

The war between Hamas and Israel has claimed thousands of lives since it began on Saturday, October 7. Thankfully, the 11 local missionaries made it safely back to Birmingham.

On Tuesday morning, George Wright, the senior pastor of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, announced that the group had made it home.

“We give thanks to God for His care and protection during this time and are grateful for the many people who prayed for their safe return. We know that there are still many teams and individuals who still find themselves in harms way and we are praying for them as they try to find a safe way home.”
