Hoover Met Complex keeps growingโ€“ attracts 250,000 visitors in 2022

Thanks to a busy year of major events and new developments, the Hoover Met reported an economic impact of more than $55 million in 2022โ€“ making it one of the area’s biggest event and activity centers.

Despite challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hoover Met has had a resurgence with significant increases in attendance attracting over 250,000 visitors in the past year.

A few major events hosted by the Hoover Met last year include the World Games 2022 softball competition, the USA National Indoor Pickleball Tournament and the SEC baseball tournament.

Numbers

Locally, participation has grown significantly across various sports and activities according to the Hoover Met Complex, including:

  • 13,000โ€“ Visitors at the renovated walking track
  • 6,000โ€“ Participants playing pickleball
  • 17,000โ€“ Tennis fans flocking to the Met
  • 738โ€“ Children attended the Complex’s summer camp program
  • 46,000โ€“ Visitors have enjoyed the Explore playground and splash pad

What’s next for 2023

As they begin 2023, the Hoover Met Complex will continue to host sporting events and attract visitors from all over the country.

Some events to look out for include Vintage Market Days February 16-18 and the 2023 SEC baseball tournament May 22-28.
